Terms and Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Britain Needs Us, operated by Matt Andrews (sole trader). By using the website, subscribing to any tier, signing a petition, or using our calculator tools, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising from or in connection with these Terms.

Britain Needs Us is registered with the ICO under registration number C1887560 and complies with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. Consumer Subscriptions

2.1 Subscription Tiers

Annual plans are also available. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

2.2 Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely by Stripe, Inc. (PCI DSS Level 1 certified). We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. We never see or store your card details.

2.3 14-Day Cooling Off Period

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund, without giving any reason. To exercise this right, email matt@britainneedsus.co.uk with the subject line "Cooling Off Cancellation".

2.4 Cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time by emailing matt@britainneedsus.co.uk with the subject line "Cancel Subscription." Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We will confirm within 24 hours.

2.5 Individual Report Purchases

Reports purchased individually (currently £4.99 per report) are licensed for personal, non-commercial use only. Downloaded PDFs are digitally watermarked with the purchaser's name and email address. Redistribution, sharing, or republication of purchased reports is prohibited without a Professional licence.

Digital content cancellation: By clicking to download a purchased report, you give express consent for us to supply the digital content immediately and you acknowledge that you will lose your right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once the download begins.

3. Voice of Britain & Champion of Britain Title Terms

4. Prohibited Usage

You agree that you will not:

• Describe, represent, or imply that the Voice of Britain or Champion of Britain titles are governmental, royal, official, or part of any state honour
• Use the titles in any context that misrepresents their nature as community-based honorary recognitions
• Use the site or its content to promote any political party or partisan agenda
• Misrepresent the Britain Needs Us campaign, its data, or its findings
• Reproduce or commercially exploit any content without written permission
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access the site
• Sell or transfer your subscription or profile
• Attempt to circumvent or interfere with the website's security features

5. Petition Authorisation

By signing a petition on our Site, you confirm that:

• You are a UK resident aged 18 or over
• The name and postcode you provide are accurate and genuinely yours
• Your postcode is required for verification by the UK Petitions Committee
• You authorise Britain Needs Us to submit your name and postcode as part of the petition

You may withdraw your signature at any time before the petition is formally submitted to the Petitions Committee by emailing matt@britainneedsus.co.uk with the subject line "Withdraw Petition Signature." Once a petition has been formally submitted, withdrawal is no longer possible.

7. Pro / Media Licensed Content

Pro and Media subscribers receive a limited licence to use Britain Needs Us content under the following terms:

• Non-exclusive licence — the licence does not grant exclusivity; we may licence the same content to others
• Attribution required — all reproduced content must credit "Britain Needs Us" and include a link to britainneedsus.co.uk
• No competitive reproduction — licensed content may not be used to create a competing product or service
• No scraping — automated data extraction is prohibited; content must be accessed through normal site usage or provided downloads
• Watermarked PDFs — downloadable reports and data packs are watermarked with the licence holder's details
• Affiliate terms — where applicable, Pro subscribers may participate in our affiliate programme subject to separate affiliate terms
• Revocation on breach — the licence is immediately revoked upon breach of any of these terms; continued use after revocation constitutes copyright infringement

Digital Watermarking

All downloadable reports and PDFs, regardless of subscription tier, are digitally watermarked with the subscriber's name and email address for intellectual property protection. This applies to Voice of Britain, Champion of Britain, and Professional subscribers equally.

Breach of Licence Terms

If you share, redistribute, or commercially exploit watermarked reports or subscriber-only content in breach of these Terms, we reserve the right to:

• Immediately revoke your subscription and access
• Charge a licence remediation fee of £299 per incident
• Where the breach involves commercial republication without a Press Pass or Media House licence, charge an additional surcharge of £500 per incident

These amounts represent a genuine pre-estimate of our loss and are not penalties.

Mandatory Attribution

Any reproduction or quotation of findings from Britain Needs Us reports must include the following attribution: “Source: Britain Needs Us (britainneedsus.co.uk)”. For digital publications, this must include a hyperlink. For print, the full URL must be printed. Failure to provide attribution constitutes a breach of these Terms.

8. Content Ownership

All original content on britainneedsus.co.uk — including data analysis, written content, video scripts, calculator tools, and research — is © 2026 Matt Andrews and is protected by copyright.

Where we reproduce or reference UK Government data, statistics, or publications, this is done under the Open Government Licence v3.0 (OGL v3.0). Crown Copyright material is attributed accordingly and used in compliance with OGL terms.

You may view content for personal, non-commercial use only. Any other use requires written permission from Matt Andrews or a valid Pro/Media licence.

9. Refunds

9.1 Cooling Off Period

You may cancel within 14 days of your first payment for a full refund (see Section 2.3).

9.2 Annual Subscriptions

Annual subscribers who cancel within 7 days of payment, provided this falls within the 14-day cooling off period, will receive a full refund.

9.3 After the Cooling Off Period

Monthly payments are non-refundable once the cooling off period has passed. Annual subscriptions cancelled after the cooling off period are non-refundable but remain active until the end of the paid term.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Our total aggregate liability to you for any and all claims arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the Site shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to us in the 12-month period immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill
• Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will:

• Notify you by email at the address associated with your account
• Provide at least 30 days' notice before changes take effect

Continued use of the Site or services after the 30-day notice period constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may cancel your subscription before they take effect.
